“Type 3 Diabetes” is a relatively new term and is used to describe the interlinked association between those with Type 2 Diabetes and the development of Alzheimer’s Disease in those patients.
It is thought that if a person has Type 2 Diabetes over many years, the long-term impact of elevated blood sugar and Insulin levels causes oxidative stress, brain Insulin resistance and subsequent cognitive impairment.
Type 3 Diabetes, at the time of writing, is not a recognised medical condition, and research is ongoing.
